Results of the 2013 WJFC AGM: Our AGM was held last Tuesday (12/11) and all committee positions were re-elected as per 2013. The exception was for the position of administrator which we received no nominations for. We urgently need someone to step up and consider this position. We have had 2 parents offer to take on registrations and player paperwork to reduce the workload for the administrator, but these 2 parents do not have capacity to take on an executive committee position. Therefore for those interested, there is plenty of support and Gill will also work with the administrator to ensure a smooth transition over the season. Please contact Gill Gannon admin@williamstownjuniors.com.au or Dale Wright president@williamstownjuniors.com.au for more information.
Furthermore, there are still opportunities on the general committee. It is here we are seeking new people from the younger age groups as we have several in their last year at WJFC. Consider this as a chance to meet lots of WJFC people and to teach your child the values of putting something back into the community. You will also be rewarded with the knowledge that you did your bit. It is important that we continue to rotate people through the committee (eg 2-3yrs) to ensure it remains vibrant, protocols are maintained and power/control is not held by few.
Football Jumpers: We are very concerned about the number of jumpers still outstanding and feel it is a bit of an abuse by the WJFC family to have our committee still working hard during the off season to get this in order. Through jumper numbers, we have lists of those who are outstanding and we may not allow registration for 2014 if people do not contact the club about their jumper. Please keep in mind each jumper forms part of a complete kit, one missing ruins the kit. If you still have a WJFC footy jumper can you please contact Kathy Paizis via email here, phone 0408 358 971, or simply drop into 54 Morris St Williamstown.
Summer Training: Congratulations to James Bielby (U18), Nathan Malkoun and Bradley Tucker (U16); and Jy Lambley, Harrison McQuade, Tom Gannon, Blake Parkinson and Jacob Smith (U15) for making the first cut into the Western Jets summer training squads. We should also mention Harry Jennings who has been selected in the sqad to play that other game, Rugby for the Melbourne Rebels U15's at the Nationals over summer. We wish them all the best running into Christmas. Also, look out for past player David Iaccarino (U16 in 2011) in this years draft. He is rumoured to be connected to the blood stained n.... I mean Essendon.
Footy 4 Fitness: For those of us that are also seeking to run around with a footy over summer, 2013 U15 coach Marc Hewitt is running his summer training program each Friday afternoon from 5.30pm at the Willy HS oval in Bayview st (by the beach) to keep the footy skills up. If you are interested please contact Hewy on 0439 333 443 or via email footy4fitness@gmail.com
Lost Dog: Just a quick plug on behalf of one of our members for a lost 3yo female Kelpie (Black + tan) last seen on Halloween night (31/10) in Oxford St Newport. The dog is very friendly and is microchipped/desexed. If you know of anyone living in the area please ask them about it. If you know the whereabouts, please get it to a vet to scan the chip or contact us here.
Next Committee Meeting: The first committee meeting for season 2014 will be Tuesday, December 10 at 7:30pm at Customs House Hotel. All welcome.
