Yet another football season has come and gone, as we look back on 2013 and reflect on the year that was. It was a season that certainly had its ups and downs but saw some exciting moments as we saw the addition of a Womens side who managed to go on undefeated throughout the season taking out the innaugral Darling Downs Womens competition.
For many of the women it was their first taste of Aussie Rules and under the guidance of Sophie Smith and Jeff Neumann the girls had a stella season and brought home the silverwear for 2013.
The seniors season didn't exaclty go to plan, after a strong start to the season the Senior Bombers fell away in the second half of the year and ended up missing the finals. However with the amount of talent that the under 16's have shown this year along with numerous youngters already being blooded in the seniors side, the next generation of Bombers will be exciting to watch in the years to come.
Our Juniors saw a swell of numbers again which was great to see, with a full complement of age groups from under 8's right through to the senior sides.
Our under 16's had a great year, as they tasted finals football reaching the second week of finals, which for a group of young lads who the majority were tasing Aussie Rules for the first time was a great effort.
Our under 14's also had a successful season as they too reached the second week of finals, and with such a young side, there are some very positive signs looking towards 2014.
The under 12 bombers didn't quite have the success of the two older age groups, just missing out on the finals series, but again they are a great crop of young players and if they all stick together they could rise to bigger and better things next year.
In our non-competitive age groups the under 8's and 10's had a great year with massive numbers on the paddock each week. Whilst they don't have statistics to reflect on their season, their smiles and the enjoyment on their faces showed that they are all winners and had a great year.
Thankyou to all of the volunteers, players and families for the 2013 season, and we hope to see you all again in 2014.
Stay tuned for 2013 award winners and exciting announcements looking toward 2014.
