It was a combination of relief, satisfaction and exhilaration for the Panton Hill players and supporters when the final siren sounded last Saturday to signify Panton Hills first premiership in 58 years. There were many that thought they may never see one, but the hard work of so many people to keep the club going and to then thrive in recent years has finally paid off. The NFL match report (see separate article) provides a true reflection of a wonderful and high standard game.

The effort of the reserves to firstly make it to the grand final this year and then to come so close is a testament to the endeavour and desire of all the players around the club. What a terrific year and a tremendous effort in the grand final. Lachy Pearson was brave and held his head high after narrowly missing a senior spot and he showed what a tremendous young person he is by his performance on grand final day. Dave Varano has got stronger all season and was great again in the season decider whilst long term Panton Hill players Nathan Grimshaw, Simon Gunn and Daniel Pratt along with the more recent Nick Prenc all continued their consistent good form.
