The Hills kicked the first goal of the game early but couldn't manage any more and failed to fully capitalise on the wind whilst also allowing a late goal to Thomastown. However, The Hills were able to step up the pressure in a tight second quarter and headed into half time with a narrow 5 point deficit following a turnover and Bears goal just befiore the siren. Panton Hill coach Lucas Brass suggested to his players that the third quarter was the time to split the contest open and get a run on going. Whilst it wasn't quite a flood, the Hills managed to kick 4 goals in the highest scoring patch of the game. With a 2 goal buffer at three quarter time it was always going to be a big test for The Hills, but they were ready to take on the challenge put up by the Bears at the three quarter time break when they invaded the Panton Hill huddle. The 2 goal buffer was narrowed to a couple of points half way through the last quarter, however, The Hills were determined to win the game and pushed the ball forward. Ryan Graham took a strong mark and kicked a terrific goal to steady the ship. Thomastown hit back and almost hit the front, but a goal to Daniel Pratt in the goalsquare following some terrific teamwork up the ground and the icing on the cake was provided by Brett Aldred to secure The Hills a two goal win. Daniel Pratt was named best on ground for his ruck work and efforts around the ground. Nathan Grimshaw marked everything across half back, whilst Ryan Byrne, Ben Hibberd, Simon Gunn and Brett Aldred all got themselves on the best players list after their hard running on the big Epping ground.
