NEW CEO FOR KNOX BASKETBALL

Stephen joins the association following six successful years as CEO of the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football Netball League (YVMDFNL). In his time at the YVMDFNL Stephen was able to deliver a significant improvement in the financial position of the YVMDFNL and has overseen considerable growth in the YVMDFNL’s netball competition. The YVMDFNL has also leveraged technology to great potential in recent years with an extensive coverage of football and netball games via their online video & broadcasting medium ‘Valley Vision’.

Stephen’s formal education is a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and more recently, Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning). His work career and experience is quite wide and varied. A large part of his working life has been dedicated to the National Australia Bank in many Head Office / Corporate roles, including a number of senior management positions. After his career with the NAB he worked with an accounting firm and specialised in small business accounting, superannuation and share trading, before moving to his current role at YVMDFNL.

Stephen stated "My current role at YVMDFNL is significantly challenging but most rewarding. My clear objective as CEO is to deliver a quality community service for both football & netball. However, it is equally important for our league to develop both a sustainable and scalable business model that would guarantee our future."

Playing a lot of basketball in his younger years at Knox, Walter says.. "he will be dedicated to enhancing Knox Basketball’s financial strength and community standing. Basketball participation is an extremely valuable community asset of the Knox Area and I will be committed to delivering an outstanding community service that will ensure all participating athletes of all standards, volunteers and supporters enjoy an encouraging and long lasting experience with Knox Basketball..."

Knox Basketball Chairperson, Eric Noordzy, stated "The Board of Knox Basketball were delighted at the quality of the candidates and extremely pleased at the ultimate selection of Stephen Walter by the selection panel. After speaking with Stephen and gaining an understanding of his extensive business experience, together with his proven track record in managing a sizeable community sporting organisation, I am very much looking forward to working with Stephen, sharing our driving passion to bond the community through sport. I had no hesitation in endorsing the selection panel’s recommendation to appoint Stephen to the role."

Noordzy went on to say "I would like to take this opportunity to thank current Interim General Manager, Jonathan Mond, for the outstanding job he has done at the helm. Jonathan has been invaluable in his contribution since taking up the temporary role in February, allowing the selection panel the time to make the best long term decision for the association."

Stephen will commence his duties at Knox Basketball in late April. Jonathan will stay on until the middle of May to allow for a smooth handover.
