Round 15 St Pauls V Dingley
SENIORS – Sponsored by Total Waste Management
The match against Dingley was a relentless grind right to the very end. Whilst Dingley skipped away by 29 points midway through the 3rd term, 2 late goals to A-Mac and Birdy put us right back in the mix. With Andy Gilbert patrolling the centre line, Dingley threw all of their players back in a desperate bid to stop us from scoring. With the wind and tide going our way, weight of forward 50 entry numbers finally allowed us to get over the top of the Dingoes. Jarryd Allan lifted again in a sparkling display and Dawsey bounced back to his best when needed and swallowed a big dose of confidence along the way. Tim Blackwood’s fine season continued and Ryan Smiths importance to the team was underlined again. A massive full stop was put on the contest when Bustling Benny McCarthy took a tremendous mark in front of the members stand

In a low scoring match that was marred by blustery conditions we simply had too many turnovers which resulted in opposition goals. To kick 3 goals in an entire match and all of those in the 3rd quarter summed up our day. Our midfield did the bulk of the work with Bryce Hayes the real standout. He was backed up by Jibba and Wards who tried their hardest whilst down back Pratta and Krem were our best.

It was encouraging to see the younger guys stepping up when we needed them. After a good first quarter where our ball movement was fantastic we were unable to sustain our endeavor and Dingley got some quick goals which resulted from pressure and out turnovers. We were lucky to have Dylan Stewart in fine form at CHB and his breaking runs and long kicking out of defense was tremendous. Trav won his battle up forward and proved too slippery for several opponents. This week it’s Bentleigh away in a match that will show us exactly where we are at.
Netballers (11) V Dingley (42) - Sponsored by Eva Rose Hair Salon.
St Paul’s put the pressure on the Dingley girls today – this strong side was forced to pass it around more often to get the ball down to their end. Jules and Meg had them covered under the ring and turned the ball over time and time again. We were all working well and kept the game moving quickly, however the strong wind made things tricky, as did the slippery court. Our girls showed some great skills across the court, but we just weren’t able to convert our hard work to points on the board.
