Seniors
The DLS boys tried valiantly and matched St Bedes for much of the game but a superb 11 minutes of footy by the home side from the 23 minute mark of the 3rd quarter through to the 6 minute mark of the 4th where they kicked 7 goals was the difference.
Despite 5 goals in the first quarter with the wind we allowed the opposition 4 of their own and led by just a few points at the first change. The second was a fierce contest. St Bedes had the strong wind and did not score for 12 minutes but then kicked 5 straight, the last 2 of which came in the final 90 seconds of the quarter. This was huge blow and we trailed by almost 5 goals at the main break.
We must acknowledge the amazing accuracy of St Bedes. I guess ordinarily we might have been well in the contest but from late in the 1st until midway through the last the Brindisi boys kicked 17 goals 1 behind. On such a windy day this was an amazing performance with some of the set shots kicked from trickly angles quite outstanding.
With the wind in the 3rd we drew level at the 16 minute mark and late in the quarter a Tyson Hunt goal saw us back within a kick but 4.1 in under 5 minutes to the home side ended the resistance and saw a 28 point ¾ time lead.
Seb Gotch goaled within a minute of the start of last that brought his match tally to 4, but 3 goals in the next 5 minutes to the home side sealed a solid victory.
U19 debutant Mitch Carter (one of six U19s playing today) was impressive. Jake Williams had another great game well supported by Luke Semmel, Sam Haslem and Chuck Haley. Seb Gotch 4 goals from limited opportunities was a good return.
The equation is now simple. Win every one of our last four games or forget about playing in September.
Well done to St Bedes. Deserved winners and they retain the Lasallian Cup.

Reserves
A ripping start and the game was in our keeping by quarter time. Pretty much went through the motions in a lack lustre second half but the 9 goal win sees us back in the four. Wilson, Dan Close and Duggan the best with Dan Close 4, Fisher and McArdle 3 each leading the scorers.

Thirds
After working so hard in recent weeks this was a very disappointing performance and perhaps our worst effort for the year. With 4 games to go the aim is to now finish the season on a high.

19 Golds
A hard fought win in a high standard game to get us back in finals contention. Beaumaris sitting 4th and the Gold's 6th one game and % behind. The game was played at Blackrock's ground, which was mostly sand and very little grass. There were a few Golds players returning from injury with: Tom Still, Matt Howard, Jack McLoughlin all available and a welcome return to Jordy Bull after about 10 weeks out. Several of the Blues players also doubled up to help and we had a bench for the first time in recent memory. We started well in first quarter with 5 goals to 3. Dylan Cowan and Tom Still were good down forward and Harry Zaia winning the clearances. Second quarter was tight with Golds kicking 2 goals to Beaumaris 1. Matt Hogan and Daniel Anastasiou dangerous up forward and Jack Hanley good around the contests. Tim Shallue was also strong down back. The 3rd quarter was always going to be dangerous and Beaumaris came out with all guns firing kicking 5 goals to 1. Will Mackie was strong in defence and with the scores now close, the last quarter was up for grabs. Jordy Bull and Ollie Purton-Smith were strong in defence and Aaron Hay pushing hard in the mid field and gave us opportunities to an open the forward line. 5 goals to 2 in the last quarter clinched the game and puts them equal 4th on points and out on percentage only. With 4 games to go we just need to keep winning to play finals.
