The Noosa Tigers took on the Mayne Tigers on Saturday at Weyba Rd and were looking to turn the tables on their last encounter with Mayne when they lead all day only to get beaten in the last few minutes. Noosa lost the services of premiership forward Tim Storrer, who is injured and also had Jack Ticker go down with a hamstring injury late into Thursday training but on a posative they welcomed back Shane Davis and Seb Rogers to the line up.
The first quarter was a tight, hard fought game with Mayne kicking the first goal in the opening 5 minutes. Noosa worked hard, Alex Corrigan was playing with some physicality, Jai Fitzpatrick was bobbing up everywhere, and Seb Rogers was sent forward to play as a target for the boys to find. Luke Fulton opened the account for Noosa and quickly followed by a Brendan Wulf goal, to give Noosa the lead. From there things went back and forth before Mayne levelled the scores. Peter Trompf went into the ruck half way through the quater and kick a gem of a goal from the boundary. As the quarter came to a close Mayne goaled just before the siren to give Mayne the lead at the first break. Mayne 3-5-23 to Noosa 3-3-21
Fletch praised the boys at the break and was pleased with the physicality and the work rate. Jason Boydle , Harry Opie and Dylan Murray ware doing a great job down back and the midfielders lead by Cubby Isles were getting plenty of the ball. Mayne were the first on the board in the second quarter and from there it was all Mayne. 6 unanswered goals to Mayne before Seb Rogers stemmed the flow but Mayne clicked it back up and added another 5 to finish the quarter with 11 goals to 1. At half time Mayne 14-8-92 to Noosa 4-4-28
The game was all but over from this point and Fletch just asked the boys to show some pride in the second half. Mayne added 4 Goals to Noosa's 2 to head into 3/4time with a 59 point lead. At 3/4 time Mayne 18-12-120 to Noosa 6.5.41
The last quarter didn't get any better as Mayne kicked 6 more goals to Noosa's 1 to run our very comfortable 108 point winners. Mayne 24-14-158 to Noosa 7-8-50
