To The South Barwon Community,
I would like to give everyone an update on opportunities to get involved in showing support for Casey Tutungi since his serious injury.
A fund has been set up for Casey, which is the “ Casey Tutungi Future Fund “. We are hoping to contribute significantly to this to enable Casey to meet the demands of what is going to be an extremely long and expensive medical process.
As a club we have been heavily involved with many meetings, committees and discussions to help coordinate future fund raising activities and functions over the coming weeks. It is important that we work together and combine our resources to maximize all of the generous offers of support we are getting.
Last week I met with both Frank Costa and Brian Cook from the Geelong Football Club who have offered all their significant resources at Geelong to support both South Barwon and Lorne FC as we look at coordinating these events.Ben Waller from Geelong VFL and his team will be helping facilitate and organize events moving forward. The Geelong FC playing group is also looking to be heavily involved and is currently investigating avenues to assist Casey further.
After discussions with Region General Manager, AFL Barwon Lee Hartman, Lee and the AFL are looking at coordinating a fundraising weekend for all local football and netball clubs (hopefully state wide) to contribute. We believe this will give all clubs an opportunity to show their support for Casey as well as add much needed funding. There has been an overwhelming amount of support and assistance offered not only from within the South Barwon and Lorne communities but Australia wide from clubs wanting to fund raise for Casey and we see this weekend as a great opportunity to allow clubs to show their support.
Information regarding the Casey Tutungi Appeal weekend will become public in the coming days as will information regarding further fund raising events such as an Auction night, AFL / Geelong FC game day support and other opportunities for all to get involved and assist Casey’s future.
Obviously to get these events in place will take some time and organization however we are hoping to have a lot of this in place over the next week and as we confirm functions / venues and dates we will continue to update all.
How can you help initially?
We will require silent auction and major auction items for the above-mentioned functions. If you can support in any way or you know somebody who can, please get in contact with Matthew Verfurth (0412232106 ), Andrea Garvey (0402223216 ) or myself ( 0412362618 ).
In the mean time if you wish to donate a trust fund has been established for Casey’s future. The fund will assist in providing Casey with the essential equipment he will require. All donations will be held in a Bendigo Bank Trust Account.
Donations can be paid directly into the Bendigo Bank Trust account either at a Bendigo Bank Branch or through your own netbank:
