SENIORS – Sponsored by Merkon Constructions
Whilst the win column keeps building there is still plenty for Roy and his assistants to work on. The pressure Heatherton applied around the footy accounted for some turnovers as much as poor disposal did at times. On a positive note LJ and Trigger combined well with 5 goals apiece. Out of the middle Matty Herb was outstanding gathering 41 possessions in a dominant display and was clearly BOG. Across half back Mark Marra was like a 10 foot brick wall, damn hard to get past. Doc Gilberts’ ability to play both ends effectively is proving invaluable whilst young Tim Roberts showed his sure hands and running ability have him stamped as a future star.

Coach Rogers had the boys’ minds right on the job from the first bounce. Our miserly defence was giving the Tonners nothing and our midfield was using the footy beautifully. Eric ‘the Eel’ who is having a tremendous season was again in everything. Connor Wilson proved too mobile at full forward and slammed home 7 majors. Through the arcs, Harry Pratt, Paul Tolongs, Jak Wards, Browny and Jai Marsden Sayce continually linked up and ran to receive and this weight of running numbers carried us to a 144 point victory. Remarkably, young recruit Daniel ‘Boon’ Gleghorn pulled on the doggy jumper again, he debuted in 1993 and is closing in on 50 games…
NETBALL - St Paul's V Heatherton – Sponsored by Eva Rose Hair Salon (20-31)
Despite the slow start, there were some great passages of play by our girls, but we just couldn’t convert and get the points on the board. Meg Geschke had the court covered and kept the opposition’s centre on her toes. Elly and Dom were on fire, deflecting the ball in Heatherton’s goal third to consistently turn over the ball in our favour. The score doesn’t show the work St Paul’s put in today. Great effort girls – our turn next week and wishing Dom a speedy recovery!
