Midway through the first quarter of the match against the Lismore Swans the Tigers were two goals in arrears and looked liked being absolutely flogged by games end.
Nothing seemed to be working. It was a lack luster performance which saw the Swans leading at the end of the first term 2/4/16 to 1/4/10. Some good signs were on show but the team’s disposal was woeful and when things are going wrong normally other matters are also contributing factors. ( pre game numbers !)
The game was played in perfect conditions with a respectable crowd in attendance. Plenty of locals to watch but very few Tigers available to play.
The Swans had a strong team of listed players with their running game a feature early in the match. However they were not prepared for an enormous fight back in the second term, which ended up being the winning quarter. The locals clawed their way back and poured on 6 goals 1 to the swans 1/3 to be 26 points in front and having all the momentum.
Ben Kelly showed enormous endeavour in and under the packs and continues to gain a lot of respect from his team mates. Cody, Westy, Thor and Josh Edwards are again mentioned amongst the best as they put in all day all over the field
Up forward Ash is a tower of strength posting another 6 goals. The Tigers backline had a difficult job controlling the Swans when they had the wind in their backs. Others deserved of a mention are the ever improving Dan, Mick, Zac and Lingy for his around the ground marking strength,
Well done to team that took the field. Special thanks to the boys who filled in on very short notice to give us bench.
Next Saturday we are away in Ballina. Please if you cant make it or transport is an issue let us know so we can prepare for this. On the horizon we have two games against competition front runners -Byron at their home ground.
