Justin (Horry) Nowak on Saturday June 15th will run out for the 100th time in the Green and Gold jumper when he fronts up for the Burr at Kongorong.
Justin played all his junior footy at Mt Burr and played his first A grade game at the age of fifteen in the 1996 A grade premiership year and although playing most of the year in the A grade he missed out on a medal playing in the senior colts finals.
In 1988 Justin was named A grade captain becoming the youngest ever captain of the Mozzies at age eighteen. In the year 2000 Justin became a premiership captain when Mt Burr won the A grade flag.
He said, “This was a career highlight for me especially with my brother Damien being a member of the same team”.
In those days Justin used to wear the now famous number 14 Guernsey before he swapped numbers with then, house and team mate Scott (Mullet) Bevan after the 2000 flag.
Justin continued to play at Mt Burr in the 2001 season before making the move to Tantanoola. Nowak played for seven years with the Tigers before succumbing to a bad knee injury and moving to North Queensland.
Justin recovered from the injury returning to football in 2009 and 2010 when he played for Cairns. In 2011 Justin moved to Darwin for work and had a year off footy before returning to play for Mt Burr in 2012.
Congratulations and well done Justin (Horry) Nowak on reaching your 100 senior game milestone at Mt Burr.
