Both Burleigh Bombers and the Tweed Coast Tigers struggled to put together full 22 players for this long weekend clash. The game was played at Pottsville oval with the threat of rain all game, which never eventuated.
The first quarter was goal for goal with both teams forcing the ball out of the midfield for scores. The wind favoured the Northern end and was worth probably 2 goals. In the first quarter Burleigh had the wind and lead 3/1/19 to Tigers 2/4/16. Goals scores for Tweed were Mick and John Carlsy.
In the second quarter the tigers used the wind to their advantage and took the score to 6/6/42 to 6/2/38 . A “wee” bit of niggle kept the tempo up and the umps on their toes.
The second half saw the Tigers assert their ascendancy around the ground. The 3/4 quarter time score was 10/9/69 to 8/4/52. In the final quarter the Tigers started to put together some 3/4/5 phases of play which produced a stream of goals. The finals score was 18/15/122 to 8/4/52. The tigers piled on 8 goals 6 behinds and kept the Bombers scoreless. Goals scorers were Ash 9 Benny 1, Cody 1, Sammy, 1 Zac, 1 Westy 1, Lingy 1, Ritchie 1 John C 2,
