SENIORS
Panton Hill played their first of four home games at Hurstbridge today in their long weekend match agist St Mary's. With the sunny conditions a good crowd showed up and watched a scrappy game at times which ultimately went the Redbacks way. The 76 point win to the Hills probably could have been more with straighter kicking at goal, but senior coach Dean Haydock was naturally satisfied with the outcome, especially the backline which didn't concede a goal from the 5 minute mark of the second quarter and has only cenceded 5 goals in two games. The effort down back was lead by Jason Evans who played his best game for the Hills whilst Will Box and Dean Haydock both spent the second half on the bench with minor injuries. Ben Strongman held strong in the backline and Nathan Hendry continued to shine through the middle with support in the wing from Jarrod McGough. Best performers down forward included Callum Still for a second week running and Brendan O'Coonor with 5 goals and marking everything that came his way.
RESERVES
The reserves match started with the ball darting from end to end but neither side able to get the upper hand. The Redbacks endeavoured to move the ball with handballs in the second quarter but the good intent came undone with skill errors which enable St Mary's to pounce. As the game wore on the bigger and older Panton Hill players seem to slow down. Once the Burra got themselves in front they stretched their lead, especially in the third term and finished with a comfortable win. The Redbacks remain in third spot one game ahead of St Mary's but with Watsonia looming next week will need to start working on improving the performances.
