Megalitres of water has gone over the Edwards Lake spillway since our Damian Smith first pulled on his first West Preston footy jumper as a junior in 1990.
Growing up in May Street he wandered up Gilbert Rd to join Sando at Moore Park to have a game of footy with the Roosters. He gave footy away for a couple of seasons to concentrate on basketball, in which he excelled. He fortunately found his way back to footy under the guidance of the great Adam Bruni and Rusty Dwyer in the Under 17s.
Smithy was a member of our 2003 premiership team.
Damian shifted to his mums home town and played for Heathcote in seasons 2005 and 2006.
He returned to the big smoke for the 2007 season, becoming the clubs key tall and enjoyed premiership glory for the second time in 2010.
Our high marking dual premiership player is a qualified diesel mechanic and is ready to fire after a disrupted start to the season.
The 29 year old lives in Preston with Rebecca and children Lucy, Henry and baby Finley.
He has played over 250 games and rates David Snow (senior coach of 2002) as his favourite Roosters player.
We look forward to Smithy's return to Preston Nissan Oval and him adding to an already stunning list of achievements.
