I wish to bring to your immediate attention an incident from the weekend where a young female Umpire was bitten quite badly by a dog at a SMJFL match.
While SMJFL encourages friends and family members to bring pets to SMJFL matches, Clubs must ensure that their patrons have control of their dog (and/or other pet(s)) at all times. While the dog was on a leash in this occasion, it was not under control and it still bit the young female Umpire. Moving forward, please ensure that if there are dogs at your venue, then the owners of the dog know their responsibilities for keeping the dog on a leash and under control. Failure to do so will result in sanctions from the League.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this. Thank you for your cooperation.
Regards,
Jake McCauley
