The Seniors got off to a blistering start against Old Ivanhoe, kicking seven goals to nil in the first. On-baller, Dave Chamberlain, racked up early possessions and Rees Thomas continually cut a swathe through the Ivanhoe defence.
Ivanhoe began to work their way back into the match in the second, but the Nodders still held sway by four goals at the half.
With Ben Phibbs and Aaron Holmes both injured, Mazenod began to tire in the third quarter and were held goalless. It set the stage for a desperate last quarter, with Old Ivanhoe inching to within 10 points mid-way through the last. Fortunately the back six, led by Jace Kelly and supported by Tim Wilson and Steve Welsford were resolute and Mazenod sealed it with late goals to Chamath Jayaweera and Cam Smith.
The Reserves found some form with a hard-fought 8-point win. Luke Grecco was best afield, although, sadly, he broke his wrist in the dying minutes and will miss several weeks. On a more positive note, fellow youngsters, Patty Flanagan and Lachy Mann were also amongst the best.
The Thirds cruised to another big win, defeating Old Camberwell by 20 goals. Cam Raine kicked a lazy ten and Daniel Rigg four. The ageless Dale Grant and Daniel Nisbet accumulated plenty of touches.
The Under 19s squared the ledger with their second win of season, defeating Uni Blacks by 43 points. Xavier Patti snagged three,Declan Fowler two, and Jarryd Dietzel was named BOG
