Roos Development Squad vs PBC
What are three things the Roos learnt?
1. We learnt that If you’re not switched on from the first bounce opposition sides can break away to a winning lead in first 15 minutes.
2. That when we play to our structures and do the little things, like pressure the opposition we can go with any side in the competition
3. With the right attitude and keep working hard on improving every week, a win is not too far away.
What was the biggest positive to come out of the game?
Biggest positive from the game was the improvement of Charlie Sells, Alex Margat.
Very impressed on how much they want to improve, learning about the game and work to structures.
They were rewarded with their first goals at Senior level and had very good games.
Also positives was when we owned the football, we run the ball very well into our forward line. After quarter time our pressure and want around the ball was exceptional.
Top three players of the match? And why...
1. Jessie Goldfinch was fantastic, best game I have seen him play for the club, played in centre and ran with opposition midfield’s, he did not only beat his opponent he also won his own ball. Run all day and never gave up. If fit deserves to play Seniors this week.
2. Scott Hay up forward gave a great target and fantastic finisher in front of goal. Also the forward pressure he gives inside 50 was a great example to the rest of the side the work rate required to have a good game and be rewarded with 3 goals- Scoota will be missed this week due to work commitments, he just gives that honest contest at every opportunity.
3. Many can be named, Captain Brendon Fair, Sam Weuffen when moved down back to stop the bleeding in the first quarter. Charlie Sells with 2 goals was great up forward.
Though I thought Callum Lee was great, he is improving each game playing down back, playing against the best forward every game- His closing speed is an asset.Played a great game under pressure, held his composure and attacked when possible.
