Round 3 St Pauls V Chelsea Heights
SENIORS – Sponsored by Merkon Constructions
High winds tested the skill levels of both sides as many kicks missed their targets in a low scoring first half arm wrestle. Junior continued his excellent form in racking up 32 disposals and Matty Herb’s pressure at the stoppages was priceless as was his run and spread. A 12 goal last term was highlighted by Doc Gilberts 5 goals and Kizza’s 4. Down back Kenny was as tenacious as ever and debutant Johnno showed plenty of promise with his dash in the 116 point victory
Reserves – Sponsored by Total Waste Management
Good teams are always strong in defense and our boys’ pressure down back through Smithy, Fish and Krem was telling. In the middle Paul Tolongs and Jai ‘Muay Thai’ gave us great drive whilst slippery big man Eric ‘The EEL’ Lengyel delivered a BOG 4 quarter effort. It was great to see big James Marasco running around in the Doggies jumper again in the 40 point win.
Under 19’s - Sponsored by the Sandbelt Hotel
Continued good signs as the boys’ commitment to pressure and tackling was the first half difference. Beauy led the way in the 1%’s and racked up possessions at will. Birdy Parrett dominated again with his hunger for the contest and clean skills a highlight. Emerging young gun Carl Herbstreit’s athleticism and elusive run is elevating his standing in the competition.
Netballers Vs Carrum Sponsored by Cushion Lounge
Despite a 2 point deficit at the first break, Caitlin Lewis (GK) and Elly Thorne (GD) combined perfectly with Sam Hunt (WD) in defence. With scores level at three-quarter time, Meghann Geschke (C) and Eliza Barnes (WA) really kept us together and made sure the ball stayed in our possession. Meagan Taylor (GS) and Melissa Anderson (GA) managed to force more space and they scored the vital goals we needed to edge in front and win the match by 4 points. 23-19
