The Mozzies travel to Tant today to take on the Tigers in what should be another day of great country footy action. A reminder to all players and supporters that there will be a club dinner on tonight at the Sporty’s Hotel following today’s games. Last week at the Burr we took on Glencoe on what was a glorious Autumn day.
The MINI MOZZIES got the day underway against Glencoe. The kids are gaining more and more confidence with each game and continue to improve. With plenty of run and talk from both sides it was an even contest. We have great numbers in the U11 competition and we would like to welcome our newest player Trey Little to the club. Congrats to Jett Bowering on kicking his first goal. Thanks go to Hendo for umpiring, assistant coach Haggis and to those players who chose to play for the murphies well done. Hopefully our head coach Justin will be back fit and firing again soon.
The JUNIOR COLTS boys came up against a very determined Glencoe team and the game was played in good spirits. The boys trained well during the week and that’s what we keep saying “train well and you will play well on game day” good work boys. Big thanks to the boys who played for Glencoe great stuff. We wish Poopy a speedy recovery and to young Jack Hately a very speedy recovery as well. Ok better players 1st MR G Cory G, 2nd GREAT WORK Tom V, 3rd Well played Darcy H, 4th Kicked a couple of goals Brodie G, 5th The fonze Liam W, and 6th Played hard all day James W. Well that’s it from me keep working hard boys and let’s see if we can roll the tigers in today’s game. GO U14S BURR BOYS.
The SENIOR COLTS came up against an undermanned Glencoe side. It was still pleasing to see the boys use and share the ball well, sticking to their games plans and not crowding up the forward line as the ball spent the majority of time in there. Their pressure around the ground has been a big improvement this season. Once again it was a solid team performance and it’s great to see some juniors amongst the best. Sam Wal, Dyl V did their thing, Brodie H, Jessie R and Bailey C contributed, while Jacob Gregs played his best game so far to be best on. Thanks to the guys who played for the Murphies and also to the ones who stepped up and helped out the B grade. Also thanks to Glencoe, although going through a tough period at the moment their emphasis on player development and not so much winning or losing made them good to deal with.
The RESSIES are really struggling for numbers and Scotty is doing the best he can with what he has. Thanks to all the senior colts that helped him out and Aaron Gregory who tells me that was his first game in 25 years, well done. The story is simple for the B grade this year, Scotty needs some players to get behind him go to training and make a commitment. Neither Scotty nor the club see that forfeiting is an option, it reflects badly on the club and some serious fines go with it. Neither is it fair on the kids stepping up each week to help out. So once again get on the track and help your coach and club. There were some shinning lights for the reserves on the weekend with players such as Robskie and Clint who battled hard and never gave up and we welcome new players Jake Malthouse and James Curson. Keep up the good work Scotty Les.
The A GRADE although well beaten showed improvement in a few areas of the game, their opponents were too clean with their decision making and skill execution. The team certainly tried to apply pressure by tackling and chasing and some of their ball movement showed signs of applying what they’ve been practicing. We have seen a few individuals playing in different position to what they’ve been used to and applying themselves to the task. Congratulations to Dylan Van Der Horst on his A grade debut. (No 3 in the photo above).
We take this opportunity to wish club Vice President Justin Muhovics a speedy recovery. Several text messages were received from his hospital bed last Sat morning making sure things were running ok and when I text him to not worry just concentrate on getting better he replied old habits die hard. Get Well Soon mate. Don’t forget the club dinner tonight at Sporty’s Hotel, see you there for what is always a good night.
Unfortunatley we dont have any photos of the game against Tant in our gallery this week as our no 1 photographer is in Singapore.
