Seniors
Our boys responded solidly to the opening round loss and accounted for St Mary’s by 49 points last week.
Teddy was dominant in the ruck and it seems these days he also plays like a rover, such is his movement around the ground and the ducking and weaving he seems to get away with !
Finny opted in with a tidy four goals and was ably supported with scores from Lloyd, Grovesy, Rhino, Moose, Teddy, Simmo and Zac.
Overall though, the boys kept their heads and against the real nuisance opposition that St Marys always provides us. First gamer Jason Evans was terrific as were Chook, Pecka, Teej and Ducky.
Can someone help please … the NFL website results hasn’t shown how many goals Joffa kicked … does anybody know ?
Reserves
Brassy has so far had the new coach dream start to the season with two really good wins but is determined not to let the group get too far ahead of themselves. Good win for the 2’s against an always competitive, hard running St Marys with the final margin a convincing 33points. Shagga looking good driving forward and Pratty slotting 5 made it pretty hard for the Burras to counter solid work rates from Kelley, Gunny, Prency big Dylan. We certainly had a lot of the play and obviously attacking well with 33 scoring shots to 14 ... tells everyone we’ve got the speed and forward pressure to force the opposition into trying to match it with us.
Was also good to have Swoop back in the side this week ... the time off has really improved the distance he gets from his kicks nowadays ... shot at goal from the forward pocket only fell 15 metres short !
Next week it’s fair dinkum against top of the table Watsonia. We need to be on our toes early and remain so for the four quarters and let it be us on top at the end of the day.
