Round 3 sees North Shore hit the road, and we’re split over three venues on Saturday.
This Week’s Matches
12:00pm – Under 18s v Macarthur Giants at Monarch Oval
2:10pm – Division Four v Sydney Hills Eagles at Bruce Purser Reserve
2:10pm – Premier Division v Campbelltown at Monarch Oval
2:30pm – Division One v Penrith at Greygums Oval
Monarch Oval
Monarch Oval is on Fields Road, next to Henderson Road, Macquarie Fields.
To get there, get on the M5 (if coming from the Gore Hill area, the Harbour tunnel and Eastern Distributor would be the best way; if from further north-west, the M2 and M7).
Keep going straight ahead past the M7 merge, the signs will point to Campbelltown.
Take the Brooks Rd exit at Ingleburn. At the roundabout, turn left onto Williamson Rd. Turn right at the second roundabout onto Henderson Rd.
Go straight ahead, taking the bridge over the railway line. Go straight ahead at the first roundabout after the railway line; and the oval will be visible from the second roundabout. Turn left into Fields Rd and enter the car park on the right.
To get there by public transport, catch the train to Ingleburn then the 872 bus. Due to trackwork, the East Hills line is out of action; trains to Campbelltown via Granville will depart Central from the country platforms. Public transport isn’t great in those parts and the bus isn’t very frequent – if you’re planning to catch the bus, call the transport infoline on 131500 to check timetables.
Bruce Purser Reserve
Bruce Purser Reserve is at the corner of Withers and Commercial Roads at Rouse Hill.
To get there, travel north-west along the M2, and exit at Abbott Road, where the M7 starts. Turn right into Old Windsor Rd.
Go straight ahead past NorWest Business Park and past the Windsor Rd turnoff. About a kilometre past Windsor Rd, the Rouse Hill Town Centre shops will be visible on the right. Get in the right lane and go straight ahead past White Hart Drive and Rouse Hill Drive. Take the next right onto Commercial Road, turning at the Mean Fiddler.
Go straight ahead for about a kilometre, going through parkland. Bruce Purser is at the next corner on the right. Turn right into Withers Rd and enter the car park on the right. There is a car park on site, and the school next door will be open for overflow parking.
To get there by public transport, get the bus to Lane Cove bus interchange. Change for the 610 bus, and get off at Rouse Hill High School, next door to the oval. If you’re going from the city, the 610X bus will get you there via the Gore Hill Freeway and the Lane Cove Tunnel. Note that the bus only runs every hour on weekends, refer to the Hillsbus website or www.131500.com.au for timetable details.
Greygums Oval
Greygums Oval is on Greygums Road, Cranebrook.
Head west, and get yourself onto the M4.
Exit the M4 at The Northern Road exit at Kingswood and turn right. Go straight ahead past the hospital and past the highway, over the railway line.
A couple of kilometres up the road, turn left at Andrews Road. Take the next right onto Greygums Road. The oval is a few blocks on the left. There’s plenty of car parking on site.
To get there by public transport, get the train to Penrith. Due to trackwork this weekend, trains through the city won’t be running, and trains to Penrith will be running from the country platforms from Central. Then catch the Westbus route 786, which goes along Greygums Road.

Under 18s (v Macarthur, Monarch, 12pm Sat)
To be confirmed
Please note that as we’re split between several venues at the same time, we’ve had to rely heavily on players & volunteers for match-day tasks. While we think we’ve covered everything, if you see something not being done and are in a position to help, your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
The Weather Forecast
Min 13 Max 20. Showers, easing later. Windy.
Cloudy. Widespread showers, heavy at times, easing during the afternoon. Winds douth to southwesterly 35 to 45 km/h, 50 to 60 km/h along the coast, becoming southwesterly 15 to 35 km/h in the evening.
Match Preview
We’ve had a good record against Campbelltown in recent seasons; we haven’t lost to them for four years, and four of our last five clashes with the Blues have resulted in wins by over 100 points.
But Campbelltown, although losing their first two games this season, have proved competitive in both; and last week they pushed defending premiers UNSW-ES all the way. The Monarch ground is by far the biggest in Sydney, and the Blues love playing the wide open spaces. It will take another strong four-quarter performance for the Bombers to keep our unbeaten record intact in this game.
Online Coverage
Score updates throughout the day will be posted on our website at www.northshorefc.com.au .
[Webmaster’s note – as I’ll be goal umpiring the Under 18s (we need to multi-task when we’re split over multiple venues), I won’t be able to get on the computer until after that match is concluded – so the scoreboard article on the website won’t be updated until after the Under 18s match is finished. Score updates will continue to be available via Twitter quarter by quarter, which will appear on the right hand column on the website – I can do that on my mobile.]
You can also follow us on Twitter @northshorefc where updates will be tweeted throughout the day. Join the conversation by tweeting with the hashtag #gobombers
After the matches, scorecards will be available by clicking on the Fixtures/Results tab on the website.
Photo galleries will also come online later in the weekend.
