IT might have been the first game of the 2012 Ovens and King netball season, but if results are anything to go by then Greta is well on its way to back-to-back premierships.
The Blues faced Moyhu on Friday night at the Norm Minns Oval and gave their opponents little chance to get settled as they crushed the Hoppers by 56 goals.
After losing a number of players over the off-season, a new-look Hoppers team took to the court against a seasoned Blues outfit determined to start the new season like they finished 2012.
And that's largely the way the game panned out as Greta took an early lead and never looked back.
The Hoppers were without playing-coach Jenna McLeod but even if she was there the Blues still would have been hard to beat as Ainslee Bennett and Brianna Archer combined well through the middle of the court.
After leading 13-4 at quarter time, the Blues then shot 24 of the next 25 goals to extend the margin to a whopping 32 at the half time interval.
Lindsey Tanner landed a whopping 41 goals while Susan Ginnivan managed 31 as the Blues attacked relentlessly.
The Hoppers were better after half time but Greta was class all over the court with Rebecca Duryea and Allyson Naish dominant in defence.
On Saturday, Maddie Arnold started her coaching career on the right foot as Tarrawingee defeated Bright by 14 goals.
Like most sides, several new faces took to the court for Tarrawingee with Amy Byrne and Kysha Dowling impressive in their first hit-out for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs led by five goals at quarter time and increased that lead to 13 by half time before cruising home to win 43-29.
