One the clubs all time great servants John Bolt passed away on Saturday after a year long battle with cancer.
John served the club continously for 30 years in almost every capacity and also had a long involvement with the Old Collegians Assocation.
A summary of John's amazing contribution to the club is as follows:
- Joined committee in 1984. Served continuously until 2002 and then again from 2005 until present.
- Treasurer 3 years.
- Vice President 3 years.
- Old Collegians and Stonnington Council club liaison and undertook these roles for many years.
- Was an active member of the De La Salle Old Collegians Association and through those links strengthened ties between the College, past students and the football club.
- Set up and maintained the clubs extensive ‘Clubdata’ database.
- Compiled and distributed the club ‘e-news’ newsletter which is received by over several 1000 people in the De La Salle community.
- In 1988 was awarded the ‘Best Clubperson’ award.
- In 1997 was awarded Life Membership.
- In 1998 was awarded ‘The Presidents Trophy’ for outstanding service to the club.
- Long time member of clubs match day stat's team.
- Awararded VAFA Certificate of Merit in 2012
John also performed a multitude of other support roles across every aspect of the club including match day ground set up and pack up, looking after all maintenance aspects of the ground and pavilion, assisting with bar and canteen and many other jobs to numerous to mention.
We are all indebted to John for his tireless work over many years.
A celebration of the life of John George Bolt will be held on TUESDAY (19 Aug 2014), at 3.00 pm at East Malvern RSL, Stanley Grose Drive. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to www.bowelcanceraustralia.org
