Secondly, to all of the people who have held their hands up to help out in our off field dept, Thanks ! I know the coaches welcome you and I’m sure the players do too.
And thirdly, Barts, Tony and Phil work tirelessly, usually without too much acknowledgement, so guys if we can do anything to lessen their workload ( like keeping the room tidy or filling water bottles if you’re there early etc … ), please do. Or just a simple thanks in passing, because without these work horses we would definitely struggle as a footy club.
Our games on the weekend served their purpose in that we highlighted the goods and bads of where we are at thus far. Obviously we need more regular numbers for all grades. We managed to recruit some experienced off field help and welcome them all to our team. Also, a great first up effort by our new Physio / medical people. Well done.
On the field, I thought our overall fitness is on track for this part of the season and generally we played to our game plan, kept our structures and adhered to the team rules. We have some real positives to work with. I felt our more experienced boys led from the front and showed our younger boys what is expected each week. If I was a younger player in our group, I would be listening and learning as much as I could. This process will help our club thrive on the field moving forward.
Lastly, to our new coaches…… I know you would have enjoyed it ! It was a fantastic effort by both of you considering you weren’t familiar with your list. In fact probably didn’t have an idea of your exact line up until after the game started.
I can only say it gets easier ! See you Tuesday !
Springwood will be a much better yard stick this week.
