SENIORS
Eltham College slipped to a four goal lead in the first quarter before the Redbacks side, chock full of new players worked out what was happening and how to play together. With a bit of system things started to flow in the second and third quarters with the game being a fairly even contest from quarter time, but the Turtles managing to keep themselves in front right to the end. With more than 10 players set to come in to the senior side the pressure will be on all players. It was terrific to see some of the new players have a strong showing yesterday including Nathan Hendry and Tyler Scarce in the middle, Lloyd Toffolon and Jarrod McGough on the wings and flanks and Ben Finin up forward. Other new players amongst the action included Ryan Graham, Brad Colliver, Tim Duckworth, Brett Middleton, Jayden Neilson, Jeremey Gercovich, Matthew Tantsis-Hall and Anthony Kidd. With so many new faces practice is certainly going to be important to make perfect.
RESERVES
The Reserves started strongly and made the most of their opportunities to the delight of new Reserves coach Lucas Brass and under the watchful eye of former coach Jayson Burleigh. The new players combined well with existing Panton Hill stalwarts including a guest appearance by an eager Ricky Woods. 2012 Division 3 Reserves Best and Fairest winner Brett Aldred continued to lead the way whilst fellow smallman Ned O'Laughlin performed well down back. Ned is not only new to the club but new to football, so his first up efforts were impressive.
