The Port Melbourne Football Club has recently secured a sponsorship from South Pacific Health Clubs. This partnership not only offers PMFC the financial backing to hopefully reach its third VFL Grand Final in three years but also gives the players access to South Pacific Health Clubs cutting edge training facilities.
South Pacific Health Clubs have been providing the community with premier fitness options ever since it opened its first club at St. Kilda baths in 2001. Over this 12 year period, not quite as long as PMFC’s 139 year history, South Pacific Health Clubs have evolved into one of Melbourne’s most elite training venues through such innovations as the Performance Zone and the Watt Bikes.
South Pacific Health Clubs owner Conn Constantinou talks about Watt Bikes as a training tool for footballers, "Over the summer we had a number of AFL players, who had nominated for the draft, using the Watt Bikes. Access to the bikes will be an asset the Port Melbourne players!"
South Pacific Health Clubs prides itself on building and maintaining ties to the local community and Conn Constantinou is particularly proud of this partnership because in the late 1980s he was a captain of Camberwell’s VFA team.
"Having just launched our Port Melbourne club it is great to have such a strong tie to the local community. Looking at PMFC undefeated run in 2011 and grand final appearance in 2012 South Pacific Health Clubs hopes to see The Borough Premiers in 2013!"
The Port Melbourne South Pacific Health Club is located in the iconic Morley’s Coal Depot bluestone building at the end of Bay St. The building has been there since 1872, established two years before PMFC, with South Pacific’s renovation embracing the buildings traditional beauty by exposing much of the original brick work.
