Wolves put bite into Eagles
Having already played alot more pre-season games than the White Eagles, the Wolves were too sharp and clinical for a sluggish White Eagles tonight at Terry Reserve.
The Wolves scored 5 goals in the first half to APWE's 2 to striker Mark Picciolini and finished off the rout with 2 more late in the second half to eventually run out 7-2 winners.
Earlier in the night the APWE U21's took on the Wolves U18's and it was the White Eagles who led at half time through very well taken goals from 16 year old striker Kyle Del. The Wolves hit back in the second half with 2 unanswered goals to level the scores in a very entertaining game.
The night was a success off the field for the club following the collection of $580 through the gate which was donated in full to the Relay for Life Charity team - Ernie's Yellow Roses. The team is walking in memory of Erminia Pickup who lost her battle with Cancer in 2011 and is remembered by all at the club who's husband James holds down the Secretary role (and was honoured into Life Membership of the Club last weekend in a ceremony at our season launch held at Panorama House).
The White Eagles will have to regroup quickly as we face League and Grand Final Champions Dapto/Dandaloo in a rescheduled Round 2 Fraternity Cup fixture this Friday 8th March at Terry Reserve Albion Park.
1st Grade - APWE 2 (Mark Picciolini 2) - SC WOLVES 7 (Zucco 2, Simonovski 2, Timpano, Matthews, Paul Gaffney O.G.)
Yth Grade - APWE 2 (Kyle Del 2) - SC WOLVES U18's 2
Relay For Life takes place at Albion Park Showground starting on Saturday 9th March at 9.15am.
