A Tiger becomes a Lion
It is with mixed feelings that the Werribee Football Club announces that Leigh Harding has left the club. Leigh is taking up a role with the Brisbane Lions as their Development Coach and will look after their Reserves side. Werribee is pleased to have given Leigh the opportunity to be an assistant coach in 2011 under Paul Satterley and then in 2012 working with Scott West.
Since joining Werribee from our AFL partner North Melbourne, Leigh has been a very popular figure at Avalon Airport Oval with players, officials, coaches and supporters and he will be missed. Werribee Football Operations Manager Stuart Balloch said “We are disappointed to lose someone of Leigh’s quality as a person, player and coach, but we wish him all the best for the future.”
Leigh - or “Turtle” to the fans and players - was fully committed to Werribee for the 2013 season until this offer came along. “It is a great opportunity to be involved at a great club. I look forward to the challenges of fast tracking some of the young blokes into the AFL. I really thank Werribee for the opportunity to coach under Satts (Paul Satterley) and Westy (Scott West). I have learnt a lot and had a great time doing it.”
The Werribee Football Club continues to be a pathway to higher levels
