On the TAFL's night of nights two Inverell Saints players have done the club proud. In the juniors Joe Kimmince was second in the goal kicking award with 22 goals for the season, averaging 2.2 goals a game. Ashley Cruickshank won the award with 38 goals.
Joe was also second in the leagues Best and Fairest award 2 points behind joint winners Josh Spillett and Brad Letton on 12 votes. Joe was very unlucky in this award as he had his opportunity to gain more votes cut by the 2 games that the Tamworth Swans forfeited to us.
In the seniors goal kicking award Muswellbrook's Ryan McEvoy with 63 goals, with the Saints Mick Viney second with 51 goals. Mick has averaged 4.25 goals a game this year and hopefully will continue to do so in the finals.
The Norm Gillies Medal, awarded to the Best and Fairest senior player and voted on by the umpires, was won by Cameron Douglas from the Kangaroos with 19 votes. The Saints Fraser Hughes and the New England Nomad's Tom Hunt were equal runner-ups on 14 votes. This was a great result for Fraser who has had a shortened year due to a rib injury and hamstring problems.
Jono Elphick, Shaun Mansbridge, Mick Viney, Dave Kent, Garry Hadland and Joel Fleming were also awarded medals for representing the TAFL in the Interleague competition held in Inverell over the long weekend in June.
