Rave reviews stemming from last year’s trip will see Hawthorn on the Sunshine Coast again this year for a pre-season camp.
Despite the good weather and relaxed atmosphere the trip is likely to be anything but a holiday for the playing squad.
The Hawks hit the coast around the same time in 2011, opting for a strongly football-based camp, combining a number of intense skills sessions with some relaxation time.
Players were put through tough testing sessions at ovals and gyms, complemented with circuits and recovery at the beach.
Fans also got to see their favourite Hawks in action last time, with the club running an open training session at Maroochydore multi-sport complex and on Mooloolaba beach as they were put through their paces by local ironmen.
Head fitness coach Andrew Russell said at the end of the last trip that the team were definitely considering coming back.
“The camp goal was that we wanted a high performance football training camp in an environment where the players would recover really well due to the climate and the relaxed atmosphere,” he said
"We checked out every location between here and Byron and felt this was the best mix."
“They can attack their training really hard, but recover between training sessions really well to be ready for the next session.”
The Hawks will train at Maroochydore on Thursday the 13th & 20th of December.
