Committee:
At the AGM on Friday 26th October, Jon Carter was re-elected as President for season 2013. Joe Viola will again take on the Treasurer’s role. This year’s Football Director, Neil Langley was elected to the position of Vice President. Communications & Operations Manager, Lesley Langley assumes the Club Secretary position, and current General Manager of the Northern Blues – VFL, Garry O’Sullivan will assume a liaison role, to round out the Executive Committee.
2012 Club Secretary, Linda Miller will assume a General Committee position (role TBA), and we welcome Ian Parke to the position of Football Operations Manager. Siobhan Corr will be assisting with Functions and Marketing. General Committee member Joan De Vond (Registrations) is stepping down for 2013. We would like to thank Joan for her tireless efforts, time, input and support during a long and tough 2012 season. Joan also filled the Team Manager’s role for the Senior 3rd XVIII, and was a club sponsor. We wish Joan all the best for her ventures in 2013.
There are still roles open on the General Committee, and we encourage people to notify the club if they are interested in nominating.
Coaching Staff:
With the club being admitted to Division 4 for season 2013, the club will now move to fielding Senior, Reserve, and Under 19 sides next year. As a result we will no longer field a Senior 3rd XVIII side.
2012 Under 19s Coach, George Wakim has been appointed as inaugural Senior Coach. George has had a successful coaching record with Preston Bullants Junior Football Club, and took our Under 19s to the finals in his first year. The Under 19s were almost totally made up of bottom age players, and the boys held top spot until the last round, having dropped only 3 matches in the regular season. We wish George every success in 2013.
Dean Delle-Vergini has been appointed as 2013 Under 19s Coach. Dean coached the Preston Bullants JFC’s Under 17 Colts side in 2012, and had the boys very competitive in what was a tough season. He has previously coached at VAFA Under 19s level with Chirnside Park, and has coached/Assistant Coached at both Senior and Reserves level in the EFL. We welcome Dean to his new role, and are confident he will field a competent and competitive unit in 2013.
Welcome back Zan Useinov, stepping up from Under 19 Assistant Coach & Runner, to Senior Assistant Coach & Runner. Zan was Runner and Assistant Under coach in our inaugural year 2011, and again in 2012.
The Reserves Coaching position will be finalised by the 2nd of November, and will be announced on this site.
We would like to thank Paul Gregor our Senior 3rd XVIII coach in 2012 for all his effort in what was a very tough job taking a side in their 1st year, and without a Reserve side. Paul put in an enormous amount time and work in preparation and on match days, whilst working under some duress health-wise. Thank you, again, Paul.
