PEGS Football Club is pleased to announce that Trent Cummings has been re-appointed as Senior Coach for 2013, his third season at the helm. Supporting Trent will be Brendan Payne as new Senior Assistant Coach while Stuart Dale has been re-appointed Reserves Coach after a successful 2012 season. In another new appointment, James Saunders has been appointed Under 19 Coach.
The senior team missed finals on percentage in 2012 and there is plenty of upside with another full pre-season to work with the promising group of senior players. Trent is committed to continuing the club’s improvement on and off-field in 2013.
Trent will be assisted by Brendan Payne as the club’s new Senior Assistant Coach. Brendan is a detective in the Police Force and played with VAFA Club Albert Park amongst others. He is a passionate and committed coach who will be forwards coach on match day along with having strong involvement at training. Brendan replaces Damien Zanic who has accepted a Senior Coaching position with Lalor in Div 2 Northern Football League. Everyone at the club wishes Damo all the best in his coaching next year.
Club stalwart Stuart Dale will continue as Reserves Coach after a successful first season coaching. Dalo is building a strong reserves group and is determined to further improve on last season, building “brick by brick”.
James Saunders has been appointed as new Under 19 coach taking over from Len Hannah in 2013. James is a former player at the club in the late 90’s, has previously coached Therry Penola and Oak Park juniors in the EDFL and is excited about the new role and challenges ahead.
Previous Under 19 Coach, Len Hannah, has been appointed Player Development Coach to work with the clubs younger players and initially oversee the Under 19 program. All coaches will be focussing on player development at training and the club is investing time and resources into this area for on-field improvement.
In other exciting news, PEGS Juniors is introducing two new junior sides next year after an outstanding foundation season for the junior club. This will see PEGS Juniors field 3 sides in 2013 which is expected to grow rapidly in future years.
Further announcements coming shortly, including appointments in the club’s fitness areas, dates for pre-season and more.
