After three years at Noosa which saw him play a total of 52 senior games, be in two Premiership teams and be best and fairest runner up in 2012 and best and fairest 2nd runner up in 2011 Tom McKittrick has decided to join Adam Bovalino in West Australia.
When asked why he moved to Noosa Tom replied, "I moved here from Echuca after having holidayed up here a few times and coming to visit Rabbit (Liam Guinan) and co. I decided that I enjoyed the place on holidays so much that I might as well move up permanently!"
Tom mentioned that he loves, and will miss most, the group of people around the footy club - particularly the boys. Of his teammates he said, "Possibly the biggest bunch of dickheads you'll ever meet, but at least we're all on the same page! Our "culture" is one that you'd really struggle to find elsewhere."
The best football memories from his time at Noosa, apart from winning two preemierships, were a toss up between Bova's 100th this year at Palmy and the preliminary final win against Burleigh in 2010. Bova's because of the feeling it produced in everyone, and Burleigh because it was possibly the most spent he's ever been on a football field; we finally got over the line by 5 points playing in a hurricane and it was bloody hot.
Tom said that he was off to Kambalda, WA and that the footy club over there have organised a job for him, working in a mine. To Tom it will be a massive change in lifestyle, but an opportunity he couldn't refuse.
An unnamed source who spoke to us only if they remained anonymous said that the only positive he could find regarding the departure of Tom was that the stanglehold Tom had on the Cougar Award will be released.
The club wishes both Tom and Madi all the best, you will be greatly missed around the club!! The Tigers loss will be the Kambalda Eagles gain.
