Damien Keeping of the Gisborne Rookies has been nominated for the Victorian State Coach of the Year awards in the Junior Category.
Damien recently was awarded the NWAFCA Coach of the Year award in the Junior category for his fantastic work with the Gisborne Rookies. As a result, Damien will represent the NWAFCA at the State Coach of the Year to be held on Friday November 9th at the MCG Dining Room.
Damien is always well prepared for all training sessions and games. Each training session is planned around a theme or focus he wants his players to concentrate on for the next match. Damien has continued to prioritise the key skills of the game, kicking, handballing, marking, tackling, shepherding, etc encouraging the players to recall and focus on the basics of every skill drill. He is forever innovating new concepts at training for his team where he maintains a great balance of development and fun.
Everyone at the NWAFCA and Calder Cannons Football Club would like to wish Damien the best of luck.
