Can Hill was burnt to a pile of ashes while a large crowd watched on.
The planning for a NEW Can Hill has been in the pipeline for a number of years now and the day finally arrived on Saturday, October 6th.
Can Hill was partly demolished at a working bee on the Saturday morning at 9am with a group of volunteers removing all the reusable/salvagable items they could. This was followed by a BBQ lunch and drinks for all that attended. By the end of the day, the occasion had become quite a good fund raiser for the club.
At approximately 3.30pm Can Hill was set alight. A raffle had been run for the privilege of lighting the building up, but the winner declined at the last moment. After a slow start to the proceedings, the flames finally grew larger and group of Mt Burr supporters witnessed what was an historic event in the history of the MBUFC.
A new Can Hill will be built prior to football season 2013. The new Can Hill will have larger facilities with more undercover area for watching the action on the oval.
