To Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club Members,

On behalf of the Committee of Management, I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate all players, parents, coaches, team managers and club helpers who have assisted and contributed to the 2011/12 season.

I also wish to communicate to all current, past and life club members that the club’s President over the last three years Peter Apostolopoulos has stood down from his position due to personal reasons.  Also having resigned from the Committee are Laney Quinn and Margot Walker. The club owes a great deal to Peter, Laney and Margot for their contribution and dedication as well as their leadership in many capacities over the years. As a result the Club’s Committee of Management has gone through a period of restructuring and appointment to offices over the last few weeks.  A Junior Committee has also been working extremely hard, planning and organizing for next season. As you are aware a number of Committee of Management positions will be up for election at our AGM in December, given the cyclic nature of the appointments as it is stated on our Constitution.

As a sporting club in the Manningham shire, Doncaster Rovers has developed a reputation as a club with great facilities, a rich history and a fantastic community spirit. Just like any other volunteer based sporting organization, the club relies greatly on members and business community support to operate successfully and remain competitive as compared to other soccer clubs in the vicinity. The new committee has been working tirelessly to ensure that all the groundwork is laid down and procedures put into place to ensure that we become successful and build on the great work done by previous members. 

The club’s operations rely entirely on building a strong membership base so that procedural matters such as coaching appointments; purchase of strips, trials and team selections can be put into action as soon as possible. The Committee of Management has embarked on the development of a 3-5 year strategic plan that will outline in detail a list of short and long-term club goals, as we believe it is essential for a successful and viable future of the club. The Strategic plan has been currently worked on, in consultation with all Committee members and other interested parties. It will soon be available to all members.

The major priority areas that the committee has identified are:

 

1. 1.     Financial stability, sustainability and transparency.
2. 2.     Provision of high quality coaching and pathways for coaches’ development.
3. 3.     Establishing high performance player and team programs.
4. 4.     Marketing – Sponsorship, Fundraising, Promotions and Communication.
5. 5.     Development of a strong and proactive Junior committee group and volunteers.

 

Addressing and unpacking these areas of priority will become our major focus as we move into next season. Once again I would like to thank all the players, parents, coaches and managers for your involvement with DRSC and we look forward to your future association with the club in the coming years.
