KING Valley has had a swift coaching transition, with assistant coach Brendan Sessions replacing Jono Rea in the senior position.
Former Wangaratta Magpies midfielder Rea steps down after two years in charge, leading the side to a preliminary final this year and the semi-finals last season.
The 30-year-old, who will remain as a player, said it was time for some new blood.
“With work and family it was just getting a bit too much,” Rea said yesterday.
“From mid-season onwards it was starting to build up on me.
“The club is in a good position.
“It was a good time to sneak out with Brendan to come in.”
Rea said former Tarrawingee and Wangaratta Rovers forward Sessions was the ideal fit for the club.
“He will be fantastic,” Rea said.
“He’s got some great ideas.
“When we first approached him a couple of years ago he spoke about his coaching ambitions.
“He will be able to take the club to a new level.”
