GRAND FINAL SHOW DOWN
Sunday September 9, 2012
Firstly a big thanks to all the Pumas supporters for turning out in high numbers to support our teams on this big day. Puma chants & words of encouragement were heard all day & several times you could see the players react & lift from this. In fact it was commented by many how loud & proud but good spirited the Puma fans were.
The first game saw a big hearted U13 Puma team try to give the all season powerful & dominated Coorparoo a challenge. After an unexpected & superb preliminary final win against Kedron Grange the team went in with a “Lets just give it everything approach.”
That they did and a brilliant defensive game developed. Coorparoo’s usual tidal wave of goals never came. On previous clashes this year Coorparoo had dominated everyone and last time we met the Roos got a convincing 57 point victory. But the Pumas team spirit was not going to let that happen this time. The game became an arm wrestle with both teams’ defence rebounding from of each other.
The Pumas held the physically taller stronger & well structured Roos to a game total of only 3 goals. Unfortunately for us great defence by Coorparoo held the Pumas to only 2 majors. This left the Pumas supporters, coaches & players feeling proud of a brilliant effort but wondering what might have been if a couple less injuries (we had 4 unavailable & 2 playing in pain) & some more decisions & bounces went our way. That’s footy & hopefully this will make our boys keener & train even harder next year. The Roos coach admitted we gave them a real scare & great contest but Congratulations must go to Coorparoo.
Final Score:
Coorparoo 3.8 - 26 def Springwood 2.3 -15

The U16 GF started with nerves being shown by both teams but with the use of a strong wind the Wolves got off to an early lead. However, once the game had settled the Pumas had fought back to kick a couple against the tide & go into the 1st break full of confidence.
The 2nd quarter was absolutely awesome with the Puma Navy boys putting on a spectacular show of team work & skill. It was obvious to all, the Pumas just wanted the ball more & combined with superb marking & great running play, the boys just blitzed the opposition.
There were moments of resistance from a spirited Wolves team but the Pumas just repelled every fight back & ran away with a 37 point victory. Needless to say at the final siren the crowd, team & coaches erupted into celebration & after a long & tough season the pumas were deservedly rewarded with the PREMIERSHIP CUP & 2012 FLAG.
