After two disappointing looses during the day the Uni Hawks were keen to stick together and keep moral high as they held there 2012 Seniors and Reserves best and Fairest count.
With a large number of players and there familys turning up it was evident early this was going to be a good night for the Hawks football club and maybe what will spark a big finals campain.
The night started with a calcutter where players and family bet on who they though would take out the 2012 senior and reserve best and fairest, after the reserve list was done there was a clear faviourite with young first year player Josh " Bullfrog" Hornick. As the votes started for the reserves Bullfrog was looking good polling votes in the early rounds. Nearing the end of the count it was clear the 2012 Reserves best and fairest would come down to the wire between the first year star Bullfrog and the verteran Corey "Hewey" Hewitt a player who has won most awards in the TAFL senior competion. With both players playing a major roll in the reserves game earlier in the day it was all down to what the vote cards read.
As the votes were read out it would be Hewey that would take out the 2012 Reserves best and fairest with Bullfrog not far behind in second place.
With the seniors turn and money being tossed around no one was clear on how this vote count would pan out with a large number of players having stand out years. As the votes rolled over Liam " Bickies " Arnott and Damien " Febes " Febey would be two players that would be seen appear regally on the screen. It would be bickies that would pull away in what was an outstanding season for himself and claim the 2012 Seniors best and fairest. Febes who also had an outstanding year finished second and after emotional speach that said how much this club and mates meant to him. it was clear to see that even after a big loose earlier that day the Uni Hawks are far from finished in this years competition with great moral within the club.
Febes also took out best Tasmainien at the club.
The best and Fairest winners will be awarded there trophys at the Uni Hawks presentation night to be held on the first Saturday in November. We hope all Hawks players and Family attend this event.
