Under 18's: The Casterton team had to forfeit due to lack of numbers
Reserves: The game got off in bright sunny conditions( making a pleasant change ) with Portland controlling possession and spreading the ball efficiently into the forward line. The forwards didn't fully capitalise on this situation, with the inaccuracy restricting the lead that Portland managed to build. They'd done enough to lead by 24 points at the main break and this lead was stretched in the 3rd term when the home side dominated proceedings. Getting on top all around the park, the Tigers extended their lead handsomely, also managing to rectify their accuracy problem. The one way procession continued in the last term with Portland taking full advantage of the lack of mobility shown by the opposition to romp away to a big win. Best players were listed as David Kennedy, Matthew Herbertson, Andrew Symons, Jake Patterson, Leigh Wiseman and Jordan Cables.
Final Scores: Portland 14-24=108
Casterton 4-2=26
Seniors: Portland went into this game needing a confidence booster to remedy last week's setback and the opening term went a long to easing the pain. The on-ballers Falcone and Fleming were lively, setting up numerous chances for the attackers of whom Holt and Hayse were highly visible by their leading and subsequent scoring. Alead of 49 points was the reward for the quarter's dominance. Portland's relentless attack on the football continued with the superior numbers at the ball keeping the scoring momentum going. Not all attacking raids were productive, but the Tigers did enough to expand the lead to 71 points at half time-a handy margin by any standards.
Kicking with the stiffening breeze in the 3rd term, Portland continued with their full-bodied attack on the ball, giving the forwards some goal-kicking practice which they duly used to full effect. The Casterton yougsters were gallant in their efforts but the superior skill level of the Tigers meant that they were continually chasing, instead of being proactive. Portland's buffer of 102 points was probably a fair indication of the flow of the game to this point in time. The last quarter saw Casterton play their best quarter of the game, with the tables turning completely. They controlled the ball and had the Tigers chasing shadows for most of the time. So dominant was the visitors' influence that Portland didn't trouble the scorers until time on. Not a convincing finish from Portland, but they had done enough early in the game to ease to victory by 82 points. Many good players, with the pick of them being Daniel Falcone( very prolific ball-getter), Ben Malcolm(effective rucking skills ), Justin Van Heugten( continuing his purple patch of form), Denis O'Loughlin( another classy exibition from the big fellow ), Jarrod Hayse( 5 goals in a dominant role up forward ), Sam Fleming( just a goer ) and Jarrod Holt( 7 goals and lead by example ).
Final Scores: Portland 21-9=135
Casterton 8-5=53
