Congratulations to both Erol Sertbas and Callum Mills for recent performances at junior carnivals.
Erol was named MVP for the World XVIII who played in Div 3 at the U16 National Carnival in July. Before heading off to the carnival, Erol received a Sydney AFL Raising Star nomination for his performances in the Premier Division team.
Callum, who plays with the Mosman/Willoughby U16's and attended pre-season training with us over summer, was named in the U15 All Australian Schoolboys team following his efforts while representing the NSW U15 team. Also marking their mark this season with the Sydney Swans in the NEAFL, are some of the North Shore young guns in Jack Davis, Lachlan Kilpatrick, Dougie Hadden, Jordan Weir and Sam Naismith. All to date, have been contributing well at the Premier Division level, which is a great reward for those guys to get their opportunity with the Swans. Both Jack and Sam have received a Sydney AFL Rising Star nomination this season, while Lachlan and Dougie played to many Premier Division games last year to be eligible to be nominated again this season.
Lastly, not forgotten, we are looking forward to the return of the U18 superman-child Rory Pryor, who has missed all of this season to date with injury. Hopefully we will see Rory on the field in the coming weeks following a lengthy rehabilitation program, as he may add that x-factor to the senior team.
Combine these young guys with the current crop of U18's and the future of North Shore may be in very good hands. From the weekend's game against Illawarra in the Premier Division team, we had 4 players from the U18 squad, in Hayden Washington, Daniel Schacher, Erol Sertbas and Dougie Hadden all playing well. Not to forget we have seen U18's Jake Monk and Matt Varjavandi make their senior debuts this year as well.
