SENIORS
Cracknell Reserve was closed during the week due to wet conditions, but with a bit of sun in recent days and the sun shining brightly again today the ground was ready to go. The Hills dominated the first quarter and really should have had a big lead at quarter time but kicked an inaccurate two goals and ten behinds. Reservoir made the most of their opportunities by kicking two goal from two inside 50's. The Hills struggled through the second quarter with the Mustangs getting the run of play to hold a narrow one goal lead at the main break. A tight third quarter saw goals and points to both sides with the strong forwards in Toby O'Meara for Reservoir and Joffa Byron for The Redbacks starting to take plenty of marks up forward. The home side wrestled back the lead by 8 points at the final break. A goal in the opening minute of the last quarter to Byron for The Hills gave them a handy break but O'Meara hit back strongly a minute later. However, from there the Hills were able to edge out their opponents thanks to solid ruckwork by Tristan Kreymborg and some swift ball movemnent via the Hills coaches box wing through Benn Parker, Ban Strongman and Anthony Bryce playing some of his best football for the season. Fellow youngster Lachy Pearson did exactly what the coach asked at half back along with Kelly LeGassick running through the middle in the last quarter and enjoying football at the Hills after returning to the club in recent weeks. But the big difference on the day once again was Joffa Byron with a massive 9 goals to continue to be the dominant forward player in third division.
RESERVES
The ground was a little wetter for the Reserves clash against a stronger Reservoir. Some personnnel changes again for The Hills looked promising early but things dropped away through the middle of the game. Andrew Jackson was terrific in the ruck following a stint in the seniors and David Walton, Andrew Boyle and Brett Aldred did their usual solid work throughout the day. Dylan Collins played a key role up forward with three goals. The Redbacks hang on to fourth spot but need to win games in the coming weeks to secure a top four finish.
