SENIORS
The weather was cool and the ground a little sticky but the day was pretty good for some high quality footy. Although the Hills started the stronger it was Heidelberg West that ultimately dominated the first half with a fast running second quarter that saw them hit the lead and take a 3 goal lead into the half time break. Tristan Kreymborg in his first game back needed to play a key role in the ruck and the onballers including Benn Parker, Ben Strongman and Abe Williams had to work their way on top to get the ball forward after being beaten in the second quarter. Thankfully Joffa Byron was taking everything that came his way and converted plenty of opportunities in the second half despite a string of 3 points early in the last quarter to end with a match winning 10 goals. It wasn't until the final 10 minutes of the game that The Hills were able to shake off their opponents and gain a margin that flattered the away side. A good showing by Tristan Kreymborg and Brett Thorn coming back from injury but unfortunately Zac Williams only last 10 minutes. Kane Gilmore also played some good strong footy despite a couple of costly wayward kicks and youngster Anthony Bryce enjoyed running off the back flank with the assistance of a reliable Will Box.
RESERVES
Heidelberg West is always a difficult side on their home turf and today was no exception. The Hawks were in front with 10 minutes to go, but like last week The Hills found something extra and a cool Jimmy Anderson slotted the winner with a beatiful goal. A satisfying result after drawing with this side last time around and being in competition with them for a finals spot come season end.
