Seniors remain in fifth spot on the ladder as Scoresby’s percentage just went past us. But we have still only lost one game less than the top three sides. The big game next Saturday against 3rd place Noble Park is a fantastic opportunity for us to really show we are a serious contender.
The last time we kicked 20 goals two weeks running was in our Premiership year in 2009 (rounds 9, 10 and 11) when we did it three weeks in a row including in a game against Noble Park. Is than an omen for this week ?
The other big news ( no, not Black Caviar) of course was that Dean Kelly was crowned “Mr Vermont” on Saturday Night. Which was not surprising since he organised this gala event. Whether any of the very disappointed losing competitors will consider legal action is yet to be known.
Back to the footy. My highlights were:-
- The opening goal from Lachie Johns which set the tone for the day.
- The sole effort of Ryan Mullett to take the ball from centre bounce, run away and goal. The boy can play a bit.
-
The punishment received by Daniel Mendes in and under packs of players all day is incredible. At least he now has some helpers such as David Leung who was fantastic.
-
The six goals by Adrian Gileno, following his 12 last week in the Reserves.
- The “fresh air” kick off the ground by Dean Millhouse that cost us a goal. — Were his eyes really shut at the time.? ( had to be)
It was great to see Matt Grieg Sat night in very high spirits before his knee operation on Wednesday. His message to all Vermont supporters, is that he intends to be back for round 1 next year. A big task, but Matt had returned from the dead on many occasions before. We all wish him well.
