Mark Teagle is a tough veteran playing a significant milestone game. Often found at the bottom of the pack, Mark is set to play his 200th game this week.
Teag’s has played his entire career at the Mt Burr Club starting as a junior colt and continuing on to play both reserves and A grade football. Mark also has an impressive list of achievements, he has been captain of the Junior colts, Senior colts and Reserves and was Reserves captain in the 2007 premiership. And he has won the Reserves best and fairest on three occasions.
In 2009 Mark missed selection in the A grade premiership team after playing in the A’s most of the year. “This was a low point for me but I had a point to prove to a previous coach", he said and went on to be a part of the successful 2010 and 2011 A grade Premierships. “Playing in premiership sides with your mates is a career highlight”. Teagle has also had to overcome injury and has been able to return to the playing field after two knee operations.
When asked about the Mt. Burr Football Club, Teagle replied “It’s all about playing footy with your mates and living, playing sport and socializing in the community where you live”, he added, "I have a lot of respect for the past players and members who are still around the club and have stuck with the club through the good times and bad”. Teagle went on to say, “A lot of the players could have gone and made the big bucks playing elsewhere but at the Burr it’s about playing with your mates and having a laugh on the way”.
