Recent enquiries to SRV on cyber bullying and age of players in junior
sports teams, and as reported in this weeks media the Victorian Education
department's project with Facebook regarding cyber bullying - a timely
reminder about what is available for child protection in sport.
Keeping Junior Sport Safe - a toolkit developed by SRV with sport and child
protection agencies - covers topics such as top tips for keeping junior
sport safe, understanding child protection and safety, understanding
physical and behavioural risks, what can your club do.

Play By The Rules - free, interactive and national internet based resource
that includes an on-line training module for Child Protection
Some sports require the PBTR online training to be completed as part of
Coaches & Officials accreditation process. Check your sports Level 1
Coaching & Officiating accreditation requirements.
As well as the online training module - Child Protection is included in
the PBTR sections "Got an Issue", "Managing Risks" "About Complaints" and
"Legal Stuff"

Working With Children Checks - have been implemented for all sports and a
regular review of the currency of the cards and record keeping should be
undertaken. Also included in the Keeping Junior Sport Safe toolkit

Member Protection policy for NSO's - The ASC April 2012 template includes
Position statements on Child Protection, Cyber bullying & Social Networks.
Member Protection Information Officers (MPIO) - Sports Member Protection
policy/ by-law outlines the role of an MPIO. MPIO's will have undertaken
training in harassment & discrimination, Play By The Rules and skills
training which includes dealing with complaints from children/ about
children or suspicion of harm.
Safety Guidelines for Children and Young People - physical risk and injury
prevention developed by Sports Medicine Australia, included in the Keeping
Junior Sport Safe toolkit
