I received a fantastic email during the week, complimenting the Reserve players on the way they conducted themselves in the St Kevins game. The game was umpired by an experienced but slowing general. But he appreciated our attitude and contrasted it to some recent horror experiences. It emphasized what we aim for as a club (players and supporters) – respecting the umpires and opposition, while playing hard but fair. It is a fine line sometimes but the email reinforced that we have the right approach.
Big thanks to Dale Corrigan who organized a fantastic Casino Night after the game. The rooms were converted and the leisurely pursuit of trying to win the Retravision Prize begun. It was a really fun night and it was great to see a few new faces there. Well done Dale.
And now we get set for the Ball which takes place on the 11th of August at Kooyong Tennis Club. A more formal invitation will be circulated shortly. Tickets will be $135ph which will be all inclusive and will include live entertainment.
Next weekend’s game are against Old Brighton and we have a blockbuster planned at Keysborough. There will be four games played betweenBrightonand Haileybury. It will be normal start times with the School side and Seniors being played on the Rendall, while the Reserves and U/19s will battle it out on the Fisher Oval. We urge supporters to get there as early as possible to watch the youngsters go around. We want to encourage and support them as they are our future. We are on display and it would be great to have a few wins.
Fantastic to see Carl Steinfort there at the game on Saturday. Southa was pleased to note that there was a very striong 2006 Premiership side representation there on Saturday with no less than 12 players being involved in some shape or form.
