Division Four – Bye
Under 18s – v Illawarra at North Dalton Oval (Mon 10am)
North Dalton Oval
North Dalton Oval is on Pioneer Road at Towradgi, Wollongong.
To get there, head south along the Princes Highway through Sutherland and join the F6 freeway at Waterfall.
At the end of the freeway, turn left and go down Bulli Pass. It’s a steep downhill. Continue straight ahead along the highway.
At the Memorial Drive/Northern Distributor roundabout, turn off into Memorial Drive. Turn left at Bellambi Lane, over the railway level crossing. Turn right at the roundabout onto Pioneer Road.
A few kilometres down the road, the road swings right and left; and the light towers of the ground will be visible. A caravan park will be on your left, the Towradgi Beach Hotel on your right. Then after the caravan park is the ground – there’s plenty of car parking on site.
It’s a long way by train, and will take several hours. Change at Central to the underground platforms, and you may need to change again at Thirroul for a train that stops at Fairy Meadow – check the indicator boards. From Fairy Meadow station, turn east to Pioneer Road, then turn left and the ground will be visible on your right.
Weldon Oval
Weldon Oval is on Stirgess Ave at Curl Curl.
To get there, follow Millitary Rd and left over Spit Bridge. Keep going straight ahead past the Manly turnoff, follow Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation and straight ahead along Pittwater Road. When you pass Brookvale Oval, get in the right lane.
Turn right at Harbord Road. When you pass parkland on your left, take the next left turn on to Brighton St then the next left onto Bennett St. Turn left at the bowling club onto Stirgess Ave, the road swings round to the right; and Weldon Oval will then come up on the left. There’s plenty of on-street parking.
To get there by public transport, the Sydney Buses 136 route from Chatswood to Manly and the 139 bus from Warringah Mall to Manly go to nearby Adams St. Get off the bus at the corner of Adams and Park St, walk a block north to Stirgess Ave.

Our Opponents
It’s North Shore’s first clash with Illawarra this season. Our last meeting with them, late last season, went down to the wire and it took a goal with only a few seconds to go to get the Bombers over the line. We’re going into this game in good form, while the Lions have struggled to kick a winning score in recent weeks; but the Bombers will be keen to keep the impressive run of form going and will be going all-out for a win here.
It’s a tough clash for Div 1, taking on ladder leaders Manly. But our Div 1 team has shown time and again that they’re up for a challenge, and this will be no exception.
The Under 18s will see the young Bombers keen to return to the winning list, and they’ll have to work hard to achieve it with the Lions’ under 18s now second on the ladder.
