150 Games- Nathan Parker
Parks made his debut for the club in 1993 in the Forth’s premiership team. Commentators can be heard criticising him in the first half, but they were soon silenced when he kicked 4 goals in the 2nd. He played for Mulwala the following year & kicked 72 goals to win leading goal kicker & again played in a premiership team.
In 1998, Parks played 3 games for Melbourne Reserves & 1 game for Carlton Reserves (Profile can be found @ http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Nathan%20Parker). He also represented the Bushrangers this year & played in their premiership team.
During Nathan’s career he played 3 years at Yarrawonga & 3 years at Shepparton United. He returned to the Lions in 2004 & took on the coaching role in 2008-2009 when the club was in dire straights. Parks some how managed to bring the club together after several years of preliminary losses & a mass player exodus. “Even though we didn’t win many games, it was one of the best years of footy I’ve played. Parks is a passionate leader that inspires you to play.”
Since his coaching stint he has captained the senior football team. He is always seen out on the track early, training with the Forth’s or Third’s (giving valuable advice on how to kick 12 goals in one game) & even had a crack at umpiring last weekend.
He is considered by all players & supporters, a legend of the club.
Congratulations on 150!!
